I Want To Lose Weight, But I Still Love My Chocolate And Alcohol

Changing your diet so that you eat healthier, lose weight naturally and shed years off your age does not have to be a huge struggle. After all you are investing better in your body and your health.

Let me ask you a question? How long did it take you to be overweight? Probably years right? At the least, it took you a good couple of months, so reversing or stopping those habits is not something that is going to happen overnight.

The best way to approach your change of lifestyle, is starting out with small, doable actions. No matter how small these actions are, they can make a huge difference in your weight, especially if you are going to stick to those changes and continue implementing new changes.

Imagine if you had to decrease the amount of calories you consume a day by a 100. Over a year, what kind of weight loss would that equate to? A lot – trust me! And a reduction of  100 calories is doable a day, all you have to do  is simply commit to removing a small portion of the amount of food you consume with each meal.

If you find that this is leaving you feeling more hungry, then have a glass of water a half hour or so before each meal and you will be less inclined to feel like you require more food. Your tummy is used to you eating more, so it will take time adjusting to you consuming less food. Also, consume foods with  high fiber, they take longer to digest and will make you feel fuller for longer. And the pay off for you is that you will lose weight.

Replace low quality foods in your diet with more vegetables and fruits. As much as it took long for you to enjoy the low quality foods, it will take time for you to start enjoying the new foods, but you will start to enjoy them as you eat them more and more.

Many people find it hard to accept that they will be able to get the same enjoyment out of the food that they know they should be eating but that is only because they have been accustomed to the tastes of the food they eat at the current time.

A great example of this is when a person who drinks their tea without sugar, suddenly decides they will have their tea with some sugar. Their reaction to this is that they will find it extremely sweet, and they will not enjoy is as much, or they simply will have to dilute it with more tea.

So yes, you still love your chocolate and tea, so do I. But cutting down on it, and only consuming them on your cheat days, will do you a wealth of good, and will take you a step closer to your goals.

5 Reasons Why Alcohol Is Sabotaging Your Weight Loss

DSC00930 293x300 5 Reasons Why Alcohol Is Sabotaging Your Weight LossMost of us use alcohol when we go out with friends or family, and in most of our homes, alcohol is served with meals. For me, I have always used it because I am a very shy person, so it would help me socialize more with my peers. That’s the reason I have always used when I thought about why I even started to drink. It has been said that a woman should not consume more than one alcoholic day, and men are not to consume two alcoholic drinks a day. Learn these facts about alcohol and see the effects it has on your body.

1. Increases estrogen and decreases testosterone levels.

Estrogen can give you women characteristics if you are a guy, and the reduction in estrogen levels can mess up your muscle mass. For me, alcohol made me gain so much weight and increased my breast size by 3 cups. So, if you want to lose weight, stay away from alcohol or at least cut down on it.

2. Alcohol dehydrates you and causes water loss. The problem with the water loss is that it takes important minerals and vitamins that your body needs. Also, when you are dehydrated, it means that your body is craving for water, which is needed for most chemical reactions in your body.

3. Alcohol has empty calories and it increases the storage of fats. When the alcohol enters your body, the body basically gives it first preference, which means the calories that you get from food will have to wait being digested. That food ends up being stored as fat. Now you know, alcohol slows food processing in your body.

4. Alcohol contains 7 calories for every gram. Unfortunately for you and me those calories are empty, with no nutritional value for your body. If you are going to add calories into your diet, why don’t you opt for calories that are healthier?

5. I don’t know about you, but I tend to be more relaxed when I am drinking. This causes me to lower my inhibitions, and as a result it makes it easier for me to have a go at that pizza that I have been trying to avoid.

If you are planning to drink with your pals, make sure you eat a healthy balanced meal beforehand. Drinking on an empty stomach is not a good thing, and it will just end up making you feel hungry, and this will increase you binging on some take out.

You have to take care of how you manage your drinking, especially if you are trying to maintain an ideal body weight and size. A few drinks occasionally aren’t bad as long as you can handle the effects. Otherwise your muscle gaining goals can be totally affected in a very negative way.

The Little Secrets About Green Tea That Will Improve Your Health

green tea 004There has been a lot of talk of how green tea improves one’s health, and recently there is talk about how green tea can help you lose weight. But most people do not know or understand how it actually does that.

Green tea revs up your metabolism. What most people don’t know is that green tea contains caffeine. What does caffeine do? Caffeine is a stimulant, so it helps you burn extra calories. I know what you are thinking!

Yes coffee and sodas also have caffeine but the difference with these is they contain a lot more calories than what is found in green tea. The benefit with green tea is that it contains epigallocatechin gallate, which is commonly known as ECCG. The ECCG that is in green tea makes green tea more effective in helping you burn calories because it makes the caffeine more effective.

What most people do not know about green tea is that it also helps with glucose regulation. What this does is that after a meal, the green tea will slow the rise of blood sugar in the body, and this will reduce the possibility of fat being stored in the body. So the question is, do you already see the health benefits of replacing your cup of coffee with green tea?

The decision should not be hard at all – I have already traded my coffee for green tea. Not only does it give you weight loss benefits, it can reduce the risk of heart problems, help control your cholesterol levels and more. So not only will you be enjoying the weight loss benefits, you will also be improving your general health.

So how much of green tea should you actually consume to enjoy the total benefits? There is no set number of cups to drink a day but it has been said that between 3-5 cups a day is optimal.
With all these weight loss benefits of green tea, you still need to exercise and eat healthily to get the maximum weight loss that you desire. Green tea will not sort out your weight loss issues, but it will help you if you stick to a healthy diet and exercise.

How To Get Rid Of The Winter Fat Gain

Are you frustrated about your weight gain? Do you know that your biggest enemy may be winter weight gain? You may be one of those people who really gain weight in winter. Have you ever thought about why you gain more weight in winter than in summer? Let us look at the several things that can cause this winter weight gain, and even better is that we will look at ways to lessen the chance of this weight gain.

One of the biggest contributing factors can be winter boredom. Chances are you decrease your activities during the winter months; especially the outdoor ones. This can be due to the shorter daylight hours. Also, if you are like me, you hate being bulky from all the clothes that you are wearing. The thought of going out just bores you. You end up staying at home instead of being out there getting active. Being at home sucks because the fridge is just a few steps away, so you end up eating foods that you wouldn’t have eaten had you been outside the house.

Recent studies have shown that when people are not physical, they tend to get bored. The same studies indicate that people generally eat more when they are bored, and they tend to snack on comfort food. Unfortunately much of today’s comfort food is not good for our overall health, much less our waist line as it is mostly junk food.

If you are going to snack because you are bored, at least snack on something that is good for your body. Choose snacks that have low calories, try snacking on fruits, veggies and nuts. This way you will lessen the chance of your winter weight gain and stay healthy.

A lot of people, myself included, tend to exercise less in winter. It is much easier to get home with a plate of your favorite thing to eat, sit on the couch with a heater in front of the tv and watch your favorite show. It is also very bad, as those calories you are consuming will be visible when summer comes around.

No matter how lazy or cold you are, you still need to get some exercise. Keep moving, go to the gym or take a walk. If the weather is bad for walking or jogging, use the stairs in your office building. Whatever you do, you need to keep burning those extra calories. Prioritize yourself and respect your exercise times.

Exercise in winter can be hard for most of us, however, if you take some of the steps mentioned above it will help control your winter weight gain and make it easier to lose weight when the warmer months come around. For more info on losing your winter weight gain click here.

How To Lose Weight Before Your Wedding

You’ve been dating for quite a bit of time and you’ve gotten comfortable in your relationship. You’ve even gained a few pounds in the last couple of weeks. But IT finally happened – he proposed and yes he should love you no matter what. But you want to look fabulous on your big day. And so you start on your quest for the best weight loss or diet plan.

Ok, there are a million weight loss programs and diet plans out there that claim to work. But for me, just changing your lifestyle can give you great results. Not everyone has a year to plan a wedding, some people prefer to get married sooner than later but these 6 tips below will propel you to the weight you want, and the great thing is that you will be healthier.

1. Get moving. Life keeps us busy and sometimes you might be too tired to go to the gym or go for that jog or walk. If you cannot make time for exercise, start by using stairs instead of the lift, park at the farthest parking space so you have a chance to walk, dance to a song that you like. It can be anything, but just get moving. It might not seem like a lot but the little things do count because they add up.

2. Reduce your alcohol intake.  Alcohol has calories and sugars in it and it suppresses the weight loss process. The energy that the alcohol gives your body is not easily used by the body, as a result it oxides it into a form that the body can use. The nutrients in your body (the carbohydrates, fats and the proteins) that are supposed to be oxidized then get stored in the body

3. Increase your vegetable and fruit intake. I am sure you have heard this before and it really would do wonders, not just for your weight loss, but for your body being healthy. Instead of having a whole dish with mashed potatoes, include veggies or a salad.

4. Eat smaller food portions. Spread your food intake throughout your day into smaller 5 to six meals instead of one big meal. This way the energy you are injecting into your body will have a better chance of being used immediately than to be stored.

5. Eat breakfast. Breakfast is really important as it kickstarts your metabolism. Skipping breakfast propels your body to get into starve mode, thereby reserving the energy instead of using it

6. Drink plenty of water. Not only will you stay hydrated, you will flush out fat breakdown by-products and other body toxins. Also all the chemical reactions in the body happen in the presence of water, and that includes weight loss.
