There has been a lot of talk of how green tea improves one’s health, and recently there is talk about how green tea can help you lose weight. But most people do not know or understand how it actually does that.
Green tea revs up your metabolism. What most people don’t know is that green tea contains caffeine. What does caffeine do? Caffeine is a stimulant, so it helps you burn extra calories. I know what you are thinking!
Yes coffee and sodas also have caffeine but the difference with these is they contain a lot more calories than what is found in green tea. The benefit with green tea is that it contains epigallocatechin gallate, which is commonly known as ECCG. The ECCG that is in green tea makes green tea more effective in helping you burn calories because it makes the caffeine more effective.
What most people do not know about green tea is that it also helps with glucose regulation. What this does is that after a meal, the green tea will slow the rise of blood sugar in the body, and this will reduce the possibility of fat being stored in the body. So the question is, do you already see the health benefits of replacing your cup of coffee with green tea?
The decision should not be hard at all – I have already traded my coffee for green tea. Not only does it give you weight loss benefits, it can reduce the risk of heart problems, help control your cholesterol levels and more. So not only will you be enjoying the weight loss benefits, you will also be improving your general health.
So how much of green tea should you actually consume to enjoy the total benefits? There is no set number of cups to drink a day but it has been said that between 3-5 cups a day is optimal.
With all these weight loss benefits of green tea, you still need to exercise and eat healthily to get the maximum weight loss that you desire. Green tea will not sort out your weight loss issues, but it will help you if you stick to a healthy diet and exercise.
Are you frustrated about your weight gain? Do you know that your biggest enemy may be winter weight gain? You may be one of those people who really gain weight in winter. Have you ever thought about why you gain more weight in winter than in summer? Let us look at the several things that can cause this winter weight gain, and even better is that we will look at ways to lessen the chance of this weight gain.
One of the biggest contributing factors can be winter boredom. Chances are you decrease your activities during the winter months; especially the outdoor ones. This can be due to the shorter daylight hours. Also, if you are like me, you hate being bulky from all the clothes that you are wearing. The thought of going out just bores you. You end up staying at home instead of being out there getting active. Being at home sucks because the fridge is just a few steps away, so you end up eating foods that you wouldn’t have eaten had you been outside the house.
Recent studies have shown that when people are not physical, they tend to get bored. The same studies indicate that people generally eat more when they are bored, and they tend to snack on comfort food. Unfortunately much of today’s comfort food is not good for our overall health, much less our waist line as it is mostly junk food.
If you are going to snack because you are bored, at least snack on something that is good for your body. Choose snacks that have low calories, try snacking on fruits, veggies and nuts. This way you will lessen the chance of your winter weight gain and stay healthy.
A lot of people, myself included, tend to exercise less in winter. It is much easier to get home with a plate of your favorite thing to eat, sit on the couch with a heater in front of the tv and watch your favorite show. It is also very bad, as those calories you are consuming will be visible when summer comes around.
No matter how lazy or cold you are, you still need to get some exercise. Keep moving, go to the gym or take a walk. If the weather is bad for walking or jogging, use the stairs in your office building. Whatever you do, you need to keep burning those extra calories. Prioritize yourself and respect your exercise times.
Exercise in winter can be hard for most of us, however, if you take some of the steps mentioned above it will help control your winter weight gain and make it easier to lose weight when the warmer months come around. For more info on losing your winter weight gain click here.
You’ve been dating for quite a bit of time and you’ve gotten comfortable in your relationship. You’ve even gained a few pounds in the last couple of weeks. But IT finally happened – he proposed and yes he should love you no matter what. But you want to look fabulous on your big day. And so you start on your quest for the best weight loss or diet plan.
Ok, there are a million weight loss programs and diet plans out there that claim to work. But for me, just changing your lifestyle can give you great results. Not everyone has a year to plan a wedding, some people prefer to get married sooner than later but these 6 tips below will propel you to the weight you want, and the great thing is that you will be healthier.
1. Get moving. Life keeps us busy and sometimes you might be too tired to go to the gym or go for that jog or walk. If you cannot make time for exercise, start by using stairs instead of the lift, park at the farthest parking space so you have a chance to walk, dance to a song that you like. It can be anything, but just get moving. It might not seem like a lot but the little things do count because they add up.
2. Reduce your alcohol intake. Alcohol has calories and sugars in it and it suppresses the weight loss process. The energy that the alcohol gives your body is not easily used by the body, as a result it oxides it into a form that the body can use. The nutrients in your body (the carbohydrates, fats and the proteins) that are supposed to be oxidized then get stored in the body
3. Increase your vegetable and fruit intake. I am sure you have heard this before and it really would do wonders, not just for your weight loss, but for your body being healthy. Instead of having a whole dish with mashed potatoes, include veggies or a salad.
4. Eat smaller food portions. Spread your food intake throughout your day into smaller 5 to six meals instead of one big meal. This way the energy you are injecting into your body will have a better chance of being used immediately than to be stored.
5. Eat breakfast. Breakfast is really important as it kickstarts your metabolism. Skipping breakfast propels your body to get into starve mode, thereby reserving the energy instead of using it
6. Drink plenty of water. Not only will you stay hydrated, you will flush out fat breakdown by-products and other body toxins. Also all the chemical reactions in the body happen in the presence of water, and that includes weight loss.
