Omega 6 is one of the essential fatty acids that is needed to get our bodies to function well, and of course has amazing benefits that we should all be experiencing. Lucky for us, there are omega 6 foods that are great sources of omega 6. This is particularly great because our bodies are not able to make these foods.

A balance needs to be established between omega 3 fatty acids as well as omega 6 fatty acids. It has been observed that a lot of people have no problems getting the daily dose of omega 6 fatty acids, because the diet that they are on. Too much of omega 6 acids do not help us in getting the benefits, as it can be detrimental to ones health. The recommended ration between omega 3 and 6 is that it should be consumed in the range one is to four, ie 1:4, and 1 is for omega 6 and 4 is omega 3.
That is not what is being observed in people. Here are the Omega 6 Foods:
- Olive Oil
- Turkey
- Chicken
- Almonds
- Hydrogenated Margarine
- Mayonnaise
- Pork
- Eggs
- Vegetable Safflower oil
These are just some of the foods that contain omega 6 fatty acids, and as you can see most of these foods are foods that most people eat on a regular basis.
When we eat more omega 6 than omega 3, our bodies health may be compromised. The diseases that are facing the world today such as cardio vascular diseases, cancer, inflammatory diseases and more are believed to be as a result of the population consuming more omega 6 foods.
To remedy this, one needs to consume more foods that bring in omega 3 acids. Some foods that you should consider that will give you omega 3 fatty acids are:
- Grass fed beef or lamb
- Eggs that are supplemented with omega 3
- Fish Oil
- Krill
- Flax oil or flax oil supplements
- Cold water oily fish – sardines, herring, bluefish, tuna
- Leafy greens
Right now, most people are eating omega 6 acids to omega 3 acids to a ratio of over 16 :1, and this is not a good thing.
You need to change that ratio to at least 1:1, and the first step is eating more foods that have omega 3 foods.
