Fat Burning Tip: Properly Chew Your Food

I am disappointed with myself  . . .

I drank myself into a stupor on both friday and saturday nights, and on top of that I ate junk food all weekend long. Burgers and pizzas, they sure taste good!

This is totally unforgivable! Especially because I have been working hard at the gym, and trying to eat healthily. So today, with the guilt, I dragged myself to the gym and I worked double hard.

I just came back from the gym, and I have since decided to stop beating myself down about it. After all, it is ok to eat my favorite foods once in a while, right? Plus I am allowed to reward myself when I have been good.

So the lesson is to eat my favorite foods, but in MODERATION! After all, life is too short and it is to be enjoyed.

Here is the fat burning tips I want to share with you today:

You might be surprised to learn that simply slowing down the rate that you eat your food at can have a profound affect on your body weight.

The longer it takes you to eat your food, the less food you will need to eat to feel satisfied.
There are some simple techniques that can get you out of a bad habit of eating too fast and consequently eating too much.

  • Try to chew your food a little longer before you swallow it as this will help with the digestion of the food and the extra time that it takes you to chew will also help you to feel more satisfied without having to have such a large quantity.
  • Don’t load up your fork or spoon with more food until you have finished eating the food that is already in your mouth. One simple way of doing this is to actually put down your fork or spoon until you ready to pick up the next piece of food to eat.

You will find that once you start eating a little slower you will actually get to enjoy the food a lot more. You will have more time to savor the tastes in the food.

It takes a little while after eating food for your body to register the fact that it has had enough and many people overeat when they eat too fast simply because they believe they are still hungry. You should never eat until you are full; rather eat until you feel comfortable that you have had enough.

If you found this tip useful, share it with your friends.

Do You Really Have To Eat All That Food? Stop Overeating

When I was young, my mom would make my siblings and I eat all the food in our plates. You either had to eat all the food or you do not get the juice. On top of that, she would make you listen to a speech about how other families are going hungry, and we are taking our blessings for granted.

Were you also brought up from the principle of finishing all the food in your plate? I guess if you are reading this, you are trying to lose weight. The intentions of my mom and many others were good, or are good. However, this is not the way we should be looking at food, especially if you are trying to lose weight and be healthy. From now on, here is a new way of looking at food.

If you are full, stop eating. There is no need for you to eat all the excess food that is in your plate. The excess food is only going to result in excess fat and I know that is not what you want. Here are a few ideas that will help you to stop overeating:

• Use a small plate when you dish out.

• Be aware of yourself, your surroundings and the food you are eating. You are more likely to eat more if you are watching tv

• Prepare just enough food for a particular serving. If this is not possible, just make sure you have the food you are intending to eat at that particular seating on your plate only. Having more food at the table will just encourage you to eat more.

• Chew slowly as you eat. This way you will be more likely to notice when you get full. It is better to spread your meals into five to six meals a day than eating a lot of food in one seating.

If you are constantly finding there is more food left when you are full then you need to reduce the amount of food that you are cooking or making available for your meals each day. It is definitely better to eat less than too much. Eating less food will give you an opportunity to compliment the meal with a fruit or a healthy snack.

The same rules apply when you go out as well. The food servings tend to be a lot, so it would be in your best interest to take a doggie bag than trying to finish everything, just because you are paying for it.

Stop overeating. Empower yourself today and take control of what is going into your stomach as well as how much of it.

Stop Using Your Age As An Excuse For Being Overweight!

Yes it is true, the body changes as we get older, that is a fact. We do not look as hot as we used to when we were younger, and fat is in every place that we never used to worry about when we were younger.

Our metabolism is not as high as it used to be, and our digestive system has also changed. There are of course other reasons that we can use that we know affects our bodies like hormonal changes, but wait! Stop with the excuses already.

What we know for a fact also is that if you eat too much, if do not exercise and if you drink a lot of alcohol, you will gain weight. This fact has nothing to do with your age, it has everything to do with the stuff you put inside your body.

There are lot of old people, some way older than I am that are in better shape than me. They are fit and they are healthy. So do not use your age as an excuse for being overweight. Ask yourself what you can do differently to have a healthy body. What sets them apart from the rest of us?

I know you know the answer to that. It is their lifestyle and the choices they have made for themselves. The poor choices that we make for our lives make it even harder for us to have a good quality of life. Being overweight and obese comes with a lot of other diseases that are detrimental to your health.

Remember a poor lifestyle comes with a lot of problems, and can shorten ones life. Treating your body right will ensure that that same body will take care of you also. The benefits of good food choices and exercise are not only just about looking good and feeling great, but it also ensures a great healthy body later in your life. Besides the added healthy benefits of being fit and healthy, you will get to save a lot of money on doctors and medicines in your later life.

If you had to choose between a life where you were dependent on medicines and  a life where you were healthy, which one would it be? Of course we would all choose to be healthy. For some reason, some people will wait until a doctor diagnoses them with a life threatening disease for them to allow that change in their lives.

That is no way to live. We should all try and be pro active and prevent things instead of reacting to situations when they happen. No matter how old you are, whatever age you are, there are always benefits from choosing good nutrition and exercise.

There is no better time like the present to do something that will benefit your life and that of your family. Reducing that body fat, eating healthy and getting fit have been proven to add years to one’s life. Not only that, you will be able to turn back the clock and look younger than your peers.

Best advise that I can give you right now is to stop making excuses. Put plans in place to improve our nutrition. Start on an exercise program. Don’t put it off, start today.

You can start light, with walking or cycling or swimming or whatever activity you like, and you can build up as you get fitter. If you need more information or have any questions, please email me at lisa@gearup4success-today.com.

Do You Know That Your Habits Can Make You Fat?

Do You Know Your Habits?

Over indulging in food is the outcome of habits and if you can target those behaviors and resolve them then the over indulging in food and following weight gain will be ancient history.

People are habitual beings and most things we do in life are the result of habits. We cultivate habits, whether good or bad from a very early age.

The trouble with habits is the reality that they generally start with very minute changes in our lives. Because the change is small, we take time to notice it. Once they become habits though it is very hard to break the cycle and make changes. Just because it is difficult does not mean it is impossible.

Many people who are obese have a number of habits that all merge to create the state that they find themselves in. When these habits are combined, some people can feel overwhelmed and not have the inclination to want to start making a change.

What makes it worse when food is involved is the way that it reacts with our body. For the most part, it is the foods that are low in nutritional value causing hunger that makes the situation more serious and the need for ever increasing quantities in an attempt to keep us happy. Remember, increased food quantities mean more calories into your body. More calories that you cannot burn, more fat in your body.

Have you found yourself eating, not because you are hungry, but because you want to satisfy the precise emotional state of mind that you are in? I know I have been guilty of that, what about you?

It is normal for people to consume food when they are feeling miserable, depressed, lonely, joyful and so on, as all these emotions can trigger the yearning for food. However you need to exercise more control over your emotions, and learn to deal with them without involving food.

These emotional related eating ‘habits’ are very often challenging for people to break, simply because most of the time we are unconscious of the fact that they are present. The more conscious we are of our state of mind, the more in control we will be when it comes to our emotions. Only then can we deal with them in a proper conscious way.

Most of us can see the pattern when we think about it or when it is brought to our attention but most of the time we don’t even consider these habits as the focus is directed on the need to feel better. Unfortunately, the belief is that food will bring about that change.

Unfortunately this is not the solution, if anything it is compounding the problem. The result is more overeating, more weight gain and obesity is given a platform to rear its ugly head.

So, start being proactive and take charge of your life. Study your habits and cultivate habits that will get you closer to your weight loss goal.
