I got tired of trying diet after diet after diet without any results. I am not going to lie to you, sometimes, I would lose the weight but I always managed to pile it back on.

Here is my story:
I struggled with my weight as soon as I entered my twenties. I left home for university when I was 19 and my lifestyle changed. All of a sudden, it was burgers, chips and pizzas. I missed the home cooked meals that my mom used to cook but there wasn’t much I could do about it. This new lifestyle also came with going out to parties and clubs, and that’s when I started piling on the pounds.
I am not a tall person at 1.58 cm, and at my best I weighed 110 pounds. 3 years after I left home, on a yearly checkup, my weight had ballooned to 132 pounds. Over the years I tried a couple of diets and I would lose the weight, only to pile on the pounds again.
My breakpoint came on Oct 2009, when I found out my weight had gone up to 160 pounds, with a BMI that was way higher than the allowed maximum of 25. That’s when I was told I was overweight (almost obese), and with a slightly more weight gain, I will definitely cross over to being obese. My bra size had gone from 32B to 38DD over the last couple of years.
I was devastated. I saw it coming but I still wasn’t prepared for the truth because I did not think it was that bad.
I am still lucky. High cholesterol, diabetes and high blood pressure all run in my family, but I do not have any of those things. Feeling grateful, I realized however that it was time to change my situation. I couldn’t go on feeling sorry for myself, without putting in the effort.
I wondered though how different this time was going to be. There had been countless times that I came to that decision, but then, I always went back to my old ways. I would lose the weight, but then I always managed to gain it all back and more. Something had to be different . . .
