Enjoying The Holidays Without The Weight Gain
24 Nov
The holidays and Christmas are approaching really fast, and you know what that means!
Lots of parties, celebrations, food and drinks!
Yes, and all that comes with a lot of calories!
So let me ask you, what is your plan for having fun without piling all those kilos that you will regret when you make your weight loss resolutions in 2011?
Do you even have a plan?
I must admit, I don’t have a concrete plan yet, but I know that I do not want to throw away all the progress that I have made.
I do know that it will be a challenge to continue exercising, watching my portion sizes and saying no to all that delicious wine.
And remember how easy it is to gain weight, but losing it is a nightmare. I know some people still haven’t lost all the weight gain from last Christmas.
This is how I am planning to keep the weight off, and it is not going to be easy but I am committed to my plan:
- Before I go out for shopping for gifts, I am going to eat before I hit the mall. I know how shopping can get, it can be tiring moving from shop to shop looking for the perfect gift. I definitely do not want to get hungry because I will end up eating junk, so my advice is to eat a balanced healthy meal before you go shopping.
- I will be indulging in the amazing food delicacies that will be on offer, but I will watch what I eat and how much of it I eat. It is better to eat smaller quantities frequently than it is to starve myself the whole day and eat a mountain of a meal at the end of the day.
- With all the liquids that I will be drinking with all those calories, and the fact that they are dehydrating, I need to step up my water drinking. I will make sure that I stay hydrated, because hydration slows down the metabolism, which is exactly what I do not want.
- Alcohol, alcohol alcohol! There will be definitely be a lot of it flowing. The trick is not to have a drink on an empty stomach. I plan to indulge but not too much!
What makes the holidays special is the family and friends that we have in our lives. Holidays are special and fun, and the emphasis should be put on our family and friends instead of the food and drinks and weight gain.
Have fun and do not stress too much on gaining weight. If you do slip, you do not have to beat yourself too hard, just move on and try to make better choices next time!
Most of all, enjoy the holidays, that is why they are there for!
